Julian N. Rosenberg, Ph.D.
Associate Director, CBET
Dr. Julian Rosenberg is the Associate Director of CBET at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. At CBET, Dr. Rosenberg is involved in all aspects of the center’s development and directs the Professional Science Master’s degree program in biomanufacturing and bioprocessing. His research interests span the continuum of industrial biotechnology, ranging from recombinant protein expression to facility biosafety and biosecurity.
Dr. Rosenberg brings more than 10 years of diverse experience in start-up and industry settings, where he focused on alleviating bottlenecks at the interface of upstream and downstream processing. He currently represents ACPHS on the Technical Activities Committee at the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals. In his prior roles, Dr. Rosenberg led research and technology development initiatives in the private sector, where his R&D groups applied principles of chemical engineering and molecular biology to address energy, environmental, and public health issues.
Dr. Rosenberg earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. His doctoral work pioneered novel production strategies for therapeutic biologics, nutraceuticals, and commodity biochemicals with an emphasis on developing microalgae as a sustainable microbial platform. Dr. Rosenberg has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications, including three book chapters, and is listed as an inventor on four issued patents.
